Note: Cancelling a diffraction scan before completion can send the pilatus into a weird state.

❗ As a rule allow diffraction jobs to complete

Pilatus icon is red

  • Restart the IOC

  • If this does not clear the error then call BL Staff

Pilatus is not updating

  • If the icon is not red but the icon does not go green AND/OR the frame is not updating then restart the Pilatus IOC.

  • Restart the IOC

No scattering signal on detector

  • Rescale the histogram

  • Check position of KB mirrors. Do not make any changes in EPICS as this can lead to misalignment of the beamline.

How to restart the Pilatus IOC

IOC stands for Open CS Studio if not already open.

In a new terminal

tlauncher -f diad

In the lower synoptic panel click the icon labelled Pilatus (highlighted below)

This should open the panel below. On this panel press once the restart IOC. The busy icon will indicate the IOC’s are restarting. This can take up to 3 minutes. Do not do anything until the Done Icon is green.
