Some precautions have to be taken when installing the FMC cards on the FMC carrier AMC525.

Installing FMC cards

First un-screw the front panel.

The two FMC cards just need to be plugged in the FMC connector, but unfortunately the mechanical tolerances are a bit tight and you cannot plug the FMC-500 due to the FPGA heat sink. You just have to gently pinch the heat sink with a pliers.

After that the FMC-500 fit in the FMC connector.

You can also add spacers (like these ones).

Avoid short-circuits with DIO FMC card

Another mechanical tolerances issue was encounter regarding the DIO FMC card, leading to a short-circuit. The symptom of this problem was that a LED from the front panel that was more intense than the second one, and its color turned into yellow instead of green. This LED was always shining even when it was not expected.

This was due to a short circuit between one leg of the LED and the grounded metallic frame of the AMC525.

To avoid this it is therefore advised to cut all the components' legs as short as possible.

And add an insulating rubber tape on the two FMC cards to avoid short-circuits.
