Rapid Access
Rapid Access is currently closed as we revamp how we run the rapid access. We aim to reopen to this service later this year. Watch this space!
Rapid access is, as named, the most rapid way to acquire data from I15-1 but it is only granted under specific circumstances. Rapid access is also unique as it does not run alongside the standard proposal timelines, instead being open all year and run on set days advertised on our main website.
To be successful, a rapid access proposal must meet the following criteria:
Only a few samples that can be run in a 1-2 hours (approx. 6 samples max)
These will be run as a mail in experiment by beamline staff.
There must be a need for the data being needed rapidly such as the final data set for a thesis, corrections for a paper or grant proposal.
The reasoning must be included in the proposal or it will face instant rejection
Whilst we would all want data as soon as possible, please only apply for rapid access if the need is essential.
Rapid access is a popular service that we offer, and for it to remain available for such needs, please carefully consider whether your sample is rapid or could be run as an easy access experiment.
The principle beamline scientist will make a decision on the applicability of your proposal and will either accept or reject, giving reasoning.
If you are successful in this route, please move onto the preparing your experiment section.
