I15-1 General Information
Here you will find some general information about the I15-1 beamline at Diamond Light Source.
Beamline Overview
The beamline is a high-energy scattering beamline designed specifically for performing total scattering and pair distribution function studies.
Energies / Wavelengths
I15-1 operates using a single-bounce monochromator, so we’re restricted to three pre-defined energies:
Energy / keV | Wavelength / Å | Potential Qmax / Å-1 |
---|---|---|
40.0 | 0.31 | 21 |
65.4 | 0.19 | 35 |
76.7 | 0.16 | 40 |
Detectors
I15-1 uses two Perkin Elmer detectors:
Det 1 (Bragg): Perkin Elmer XRD 1611 CP3; 4096 x 4096 pixels; 100 µm pixel size
Det 2 (PDF): Perkin Elmer XRD 4343 CT; 2880 x 2880 pixels; 150 µm pixel size
Collection Times
Whilst the amount of time required for a data collection depends on many factors, we typically estimate that a good quality PDF data set can be collected 3 to 4 times per hour.
Sample Environments
The beamline is equipped with a wide range of sample environments.
Capillaries
We strongly encourage all users to use the capillaries supplied by the beamline. For the full list of available capillaries, please see this page.
