Xraylib tool

The Xraylib tool has been added to provide its users access to databases of several commonly used physical parameters in X-ray physics.

This includes:

  • Atomic weights
  • Elemental densities
  • Absorption edge energies
  • X-ray fluorescence line energies
  • Cross sections: Rayleigh and Compton scattering, photoionization, and total attenuation
  • Fluorescence yields
  • X-ray fluorescence radiative rates
  • Coster-Kronig transition probabilities
  • Electronic configurations

Usage is straightforward: just click on the element of interest and the column on the right will update with the physical data for the desired element. The tables can be collapsed or expanded by clicking on the arrow buttons next to the table title. The cross sections table requires the introduction of an energy (in keV) in order to determine the cross section values. Any character typed in the entry will trigger an update of the displayed values, provided a valid real number is entered.

This tool draws its information from the xraylib library. More information can be found in the dialog that pops up when clicking the About button in the lower right corner of the tool.
